What is a Pergola?
A pergola is an outdoor structure that provides full or partial shade to a designated area. A pergola normally consists of 4 vertical columns that support a number of horizontal beams aligned in a grid format to provide shade to the area below the grid. Pergolas come in many shapes, sizes, styles, and materials.
What materials are Pergolas made with?
Pergolas can be made with various materials including wood, plastic, and metal. Our Pergolas are made with Aluminum.
What is the difference between a pergola and a gazebo?
Pergolas and gazebos are both outdoor structures designed to provide share to a designated area. The primary difference between the two is that a pergola provides partial shade while a gazebo has a completely enclosed roof providing full shade. Gazebos are commonly free-standing, while pergolas are attached to some type of structure, whether it be a wall or solid ground.
Can I install a pergola myself?
The short answer is yes if you have experience and are good with tools. A good quality pergola comes with many parts and can be complicated to assemble. We strongly recommend professional assembly, however, if you are the adventurous type, please make sure to read and follow the instructions that come with your pergola.
Can I attach a pergola to my house?
Certain types of pergolas can be attached to your house. However, whenever you are attaching anything to the outer surface of your home, make sure to consult an expert to avoid causing damage to the structure of your home.
What is the ideal size for a pergola?
An ideal size for a pergola is approximately 10′ x 10′. However, there are many sizes and shapes if your designated area requires custom sizes.
Can I customize the size and design of a pergola?
Yes. Pergolas come in many shapes and sizes. We sell most of the standard sizes but can provide custom sizes as special orders.
Are portable pergolas suitable for all weather conditions?
Yes, if you buy the right quality pergola and properly place and secure it in the designated area, your pergola should be suitable for all weather conditions. Remember, not all pergolas are the same. Quality and material make a big difference.
Can I move a portable pergola once it's set up?
It depends. If you buy a free-standing pergola attached to a surface in a manner that can be easily detached, yes you can.
Do portable pergolas require a foundation?
Yes. In order to prevent displacement, damage, or accidents from happening, all pergolas should be mounted to a solid and sturdy foundation.
